that shuts me up

lustful apathy
rising off you like the steam
from your builder’s brew

uptalk unison
a nation's insanity
loud, naked, shameless

Futile self-torment
Over the mean things I did
All that time ago

Generalised feelings
Love, shame, trust, loss, longing, pain
Another Sunday

falling sick on a journey
my dream goes wandering
over a field of dried grass

It’s not a problem
coz it doesn’t affect me.
Apolitical.

tethered to a stump
I watch the picnic unfold:
cocked tails and porked pies

Human mystery
Climates change hour by minute
A lost roaming soul

on Monday evenings
we catalogue our foibles
and eat coco pops

long gone before dawn
leaving nothing but condoms
unused, beckoning

frayed umbilical
yearns for the simple sixties
nylon localist
